Today i seen that the residence plugin deleted all the residences and once they got deleted i tried to load a backup, but the backup failed and deleted the space worlds, including the space station. The many warps are mostly gone as well because of the backup and the map is semi corrupted. So me and reepime, cowswft, battle_bread, finalfirst, axtrousermissle decided that we are going to reset the map. The map is no badly gone so we are giving everyone a fresh start, including me i will reload all the plugins and make them work better. The server should be fixed and fully working tomorrow night sorry for this but there is no other option.

Pretty depressing. I know I was right in the middle of a really large build and hadn't taken any screencaps or anything. I know it may be tempting to leave the server. But this could be a really interesting opportunity as well. Not a lot of servers get to start with a blank slate and a decent number of people on them.

This could be an opportunity to build some really nice infrastructure coming out from spawn so that our server can be a bit more organized and scenic:
Roads
Rails
Canals

If we try to limit our warps we could make a map that is deeply interconnected and attractive. For example, if we only put warps in really large cities, and only put really large cities about 500/1000 blocks apart from eachother and/or spawn, we can connect them with transportation systems, etc and litter small towns and personal residences between them.

Imagine how nice it would be to be able to fully explore the server without having to page through hundreds of warps, and rather just follow the infrastructure north, south, east, or west until you've seen the terminal ends of all the builds.
Also we can use road, rail, and canal style to give a really rich flavor to different regions/ecosystems and their respective towns/cities/themes.
And lastly, if we build major builds on a relative grid system in respect to spawn, we can even give res protections to our large scale transportation infrastructure. use rights without build rights.

please like if you're interested in building a more organized and enthralling server.

I find it funny that we managed to restart the map the day before the 1.1 patch. Also, how far would these towns be from each other. And would the materials for the railway be provided by Ryan, Reepime, other admin/VIP or done with legitimate mining/crafting.

The hole map is 3000 squared right now so the towns would be close

only 3000 blocks should be fairly easy. i was able span almost 2000 blocks of railway on old map with all mined material.

i'm thinking horizontal and vertical primarily roads and rails. diagonally canal systems about 5 blocks wide. (or visa versa, whichever is easiest) subsystems can be attached to these as towns/cities evolve.

and i suspect that in order to get them out to any substantial distance a lot of spawned material will be required, or it just won't happen.
